The revolutionary Elspec G4000 BLACKBOX is the next generation in power
quality analyzers provides accurate detection and isolation of power
quality problems for effective preventive maintenance.
Each BLACKBOX measures the following all electrical, power and energy parameters:
A unique time synchronization algorithm assures that logged data from multiple units is synchronized and displayed on the same time scale with typical 0.1ms resolution. The result? Every event is accurately analyzed for precise root cause analysis.
The G4420 samples at 512 samples per cycle and reads harmonics to the 255th. In addition it offers a 10x measurement during overload and a 16/20 Bit A/D processor for fast processing. With 2048MB of internal memory, the G4420 can record 160 million waveforms logs which is one month of data.
The G4420 offers excellent built-in communications capabilities with two Ethernet ports for remote connectivity, RS485/422 port, Compact Flash expansion, on-board web server for data access, on-board OPC (Open Connectivity) server, Modbus RTU capability in SCADA applications and 4 integral communications ports.
For faster sampling units with more memory and greater communications capabilities, see the ELSPEC G4430 power quality analyzer.
Each BLACKBOX measures the following all electrical, power and energy parameters:
- Voltage & current, per phase, average, unbalance
- Frequency
- Power & Energy - bi-directional, import, export, net, total
- Demand - window, sliding window
- Harmonics
- Sub-cycle transient event recording

Innovative
PQSCADA enterprise analysis software enables operators to view,
control, analyze, and monitor multiple measurement devices
simultaneously. Data is accurately time-synchronized within sites and
across sites. The practically unlimited amount of data, collected from the Elspec G4400 devices, is processed and analyzed by using the PQSCADA software. The operator receives a comprehensive picture of graphical system trends and time synchronized power quality values from multiple devices on same screen for status and anomaly source-propagation analysis.
The softwares distributed architecture is scalable and allows easy management of countless local and remote measurement devices. The scalability scheme supports physical expansions and reflects the hierarchy of the components in the electrical grid.
The architecture is built on physical and virtual nodes:
- Physical nodes: software components that directly control measurement devices for collection, storage, management, and ultimate analysis of measurement data.
- Virtual nodes: provide calculation or simulation based on one or more physical nodes. For example, a virtual node can incorporate two physical nodes to monitor them together or simulate the addition of additional load at a physical node.
Nodes are grouped logically under sites which serve as entry points for various applications (internal and 3rd party) and provide a real-time picture of all connected points for management and configuration functions. Enterprise is the umbrella site that comprises all sites and provides all-inclusive snapshots of the network (trends and data).
